garment care
Locally sourced eucalyptus, geranium, rose petals, onion skins, pomegranate and iron have been intentionally infused into the silk, creating one of a kind pattern and texture... never to be replicated.
Due to the nature of the botanical dyeing process, we recommend minimal washing.
When your garment does require washing please make it a gentle cold hand wash using a pH neutral liquid soap or soap nuts.
Eco laundry detergents and powders contain washing soda which is highly alkaline and will most likely alter the colour of your robe.
Do not soak for longer than 5-10 minutes.
We recommend Dr Bronners hemp unscented soap. You only need a small amount as its quite concentrated.
Once washed, do not twist and wring out the robe as the silk fibre is more delicate when wet and it could compromise the integrity of the fabric.
Gently squeeze out excess water and either lay flat on a towel to dry or place on a hanger in the shade.
Do not hang in full sun as this could effect the natural colour.
Citrus or acid liquids such as vinegar will affect the natural colour causing a 'bleaching' effect.
If your garment is exposed to an acidic liquid, rise immediately under water to dilute and hopefully soften the impact.
At worst it will add some unique patterns to your garment which is all part of the beauty of natural dyes.
Iron on a medium heat, spray the silk with water to dampen and iron on the reverse side of the fabric with plenty of steam.
Or if you own a steamer this is preferred.
Avoid wearing synthetic deodorants and fragrances as this may affect the colour of your robe.
Some natural deodorants that contain bicarb or citric acid can also affect the natural colour so please be mindful.
Store away from full sunlight.
